Chorus is a Melbourne based fashion design studio established by long term friends Cassandra Wheat and Louise Pannell. Having met in high school textiles class the pair traversed dance floors, continents and fashion terrain together and view Chorus as a natural continuation of these adventures.
Chorus represents the energy and spontaneity of the combined effort – working in conversation with a new creative partner for each collection. They let the design process not the concept of a season dictate the aesthetic choices, whilst keeping true to their own functional and playful values – the core thread that binds each collection to the next is the belief that looking dressed up and feeling relaxed needn’t be mutually exclusive. Each piece is released in editions of no more than 30, are created with luxury materials and constructed in Melbourne. Chorus provides clothing for ladies with contemporary needs; the wearer is considered the final and ultimate, collaborator.
More about the designers –
Cassandra graduated from R.M.I.T with a Bachelor of Design – Fashion, (Honours) going on to work for both niche and high street labels across men’s and women’s wear. Cassandra left Melbourne to undertake a Masters of Fashion Design at Domus Academy in Milan before moving to Amsterdam to design for her long time hero’s Viktor & Rolf. She is currently undertaking a PhD in fashion.
Louise studied Visual Merchandising at R.M.I.T and has worked for over 10 years in retail visual merchandising both in Australia and the UK, most recently as Visual Merchandising Manager for Mimco. The pair now industriously apply these experiences to Chorus, using it as a testing ground to explore diverse creative processes and the merging of the their aesthetics.
